Like all machines, the faucets are prone to failure. We deal here with problems whose cause is less obvious. Water leakage.

In addition to the more trivial cases of leakage in the presence of joints, such as those of the under tap hoses, which normally require replacement of gaskets, leakages between the body and the control lever can occur in single-lever mixers. The most common cause is the breakage of the mixing cartridge, usually caused by freezing water in winter due to failure to empty the plumbing, resulting in increased volume occupied and cartridge breakage.

In mixers with turning spout, leakages may occur between the rotating and fixed part (above and/or below) due to wear of one or both 'O' Rings which must be replaced as shown.
